Goose, Swan and Ducks - Early water birds

Pink footed goose, Whooper swan, Red-breasted merganser, Cape Barren Goose,

Horned Screamer and Pink-headed duck skeletons,

part of the early evolution of water birds of the Neognathes branch. 

Anser brachyrhynchus, Cygnus cygnus, Mergus serrator  and Cereopsis novaehollandiae and Anhima cornuta skeletons.

 

Note, the red breasted merganser skeleton has a cartilage chamber in the chest preserved, which may be an air sac.
